Vinay Pathak: My ‘Funny man’ image restricts Filmmakers

Vinay Pathak says that he isn’t bothered of his ‘funny man’ image in Bollywood, but at the same time he says that filmmakers feel restricted by it. He told PTI, “The popular image I carry is of 'Bheja Fry', 'Chalo Dilli' and 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi'. There are very few who would come and say 'I saw you in 'Dasvidaniya' and I loved it.

The Khosla Ka Ghosla actor continued, “I am aware of my popular image. And I think it doesn't restrict me but the filmmakers perhaps can't imagine me in any other role beyond that image”.

The next project of the actor is Gour Hari Dastaan: The Freedom File, in which he is essaying the role of an Odisha freedom fighter Gour Hari Das. The film is about the struggle of Das, who fought for about 32 years to prove that he was a part of the freedom movement. The actor has high hopes from the films and wishes that his role in the film showcases a different side of acting to the industry.
