Chloe Moretz To Play The Little Mermaid

Kick Ass actor Chloe Mortez will play the role of The Little Mermaid in the Working Title, according to Variety. It was previously reported that Sofia Coppola will be directing the film but now a new director will be announced. Richard Curtis is being eyed for the film as script writer.

Hans Christian Andersen first wrote the fairytale which follows the story of a mermaid who falls in love with a human prince and decides to give up her life in the sea. The book was first published in 1837 but the movie will take inspiration from a children’s puppet theatre production at London’s Little Angel Theatre Company. Since the beginning of the plan for the film, Chloe was tied to the project.

Variety also reported that Sofia Coppola did not want to work with Chloe and thus left the project. The movie will be produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner. The project will be managed by Erik Baiers and Chloe Yellin for Universal.
