    Emmy Awards 2015 - Who Won What?

    The 67th Emmy Awards were dominated by HBO with its series Game of Thrones, Veep and Olive Kitteridge. Game of Thrones bagged 12 awards (including eight won at Creative Arts Emmys) including outstanding supporting actor, writing and direction. The series set a new record for most number of TV awards won in a year which was previously held by The West Wing.

    Peter Dinklage who plays Tyrion Lannister in the hit series was awarded with the outstanding supporting actor title. David Benioff and Dan Weiss won the award for writing and David Nutter won the direction award. Following Game of Thrones was Veep, which won the Emmy for outstanding comedy series. The outstanding actress in a comedy series was also bagged by Veep star Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

    Olive Kitteridge won six Emmys including best limited series and outstanding directing for a limited series, which was given to show director Lisa Cholodenko. The outstanding actor award went to Jon Hamm for Mad Men and outstanding actress award was claimed by Viola Davis for How to Get Away With Murder. The outstanding supporting actress in a drama went to Uzo Aduba for Orange is the New Black.

    The award for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series was given to Jeffrey Tambor for the show Transparent. Allison Janney claimed the outstanding supporting actress in a comedy series award for Mom. Another award procured by Veep was for outstanding supporting actor in a comedy series which was claimed by Tony Hale. The HBO TV movie Bessie won the award for outstanding television movie.

    Richard Jenkins and Frances McDormand were awarded outstanding lead actor and actress in a miniseries or a movie for Olive Kitteridge. Bill Murray couldn’t attend the event but bagged the outstanding supporting actor in a miniseries or a movie award for Olive Kitteridge. Regina King from American Crime won outstanding supporting actress in a miniseries or a movie. Comedy Central’s The Daily Show claimed three awards including outstanding variety talk series, outstanding writing for a variety series and outstanding directing for a variety series. The outstanding variety sketch series award was given to Inside Amy Schumer. The Voice won outstanding reality-competition program and Shark Tank won outstanding structured reality program. The best unstructured reality program was Deadliest Catch. Jane Lynch, the host for Hollywood Game Night, won the award for outstanding host for a reality or reality-competition program.

    The Saturday Night Live 40th Anniversary Special won outstanding variety special, Reg E. Cathey won outstanding guest actor in a drama series for House of Cards, Margo Martindale won outstanding guest actress in a drama series for The Americans and Bradley Whitford won outstanding guest actor in a comedy series for Transparent. Joan Cusack won the award for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series for Shameless. Simon Blackwell, Armando Iannucci and Tony Roche claimed the award for outstanding writing for a comedy series (Veep). The outstanding directing for a comedy series award was bagged by Jill Soloway for Transparent. Outstanding writing for a limited series, movie or a dramatic special was claimed by Jane Anderson for Olive Kitteridge.
