The hotly anticipated Sultan expectedly will break records at the box-office. After trade analysts predicted that the Salman Khan-starrer will earn in the region of ₹150 crore, reports suggest that movie might break the record for opening day earnings. The current opening day record belongs to Shah Rukh Khan's Happy New Year with ₹44 crore.

But in addition to the mind-boggling numbers, the film has also received some praise from the critics, who have praised the film's charming core and the performances of the actors. Applause has also been directed towards Salman Khan, who according to many, has delivered one of his best performances. 

But that's not all. 

Salman Khan has produced a lot of blockbusters in the past few years but something about Sultan sets it apart from the rest.

One of the rare times Salman has been paired opposite a strong female character.

Anushka Sharma's Aarfa wasn't only a powerful wrestler but a strong-resolved woman who stands up to Salman Khan's Sultan whenever he was in wrong. Her character is a staunch believer in feminism and lets Sultan know when he is in the wrong.

Salman Khan plays a beaten-down and a lost character.

'Defeated' isn't the world that we have associated with Salman's on-screen characters in the past. But Sultan Ali Khan is a character who is lost and beaten-down for the most of the movie. The last time we saw him this hapless was in Tere Naam, which released thirteen years ago!

Salman Khan has acted.

Yes, there is a display of muscles. Yes, there is swag. Yes, there is eccentric dancing. But beneath all that we can see Salman Khan acting, which is a refreshing sight. 

Salman Khan takes his shirt (and pants) off for a reason.

Salman Khan is known to have taken off his shirt in practically every movie of his. And to be fair, in most of his movies, it wasn't really necessary. But to a play an up-and-coming wrestler in a small town in Haryana, Salman Khan showcasing his body was warranted and helped the credibilty of the movie.
