7 Possible Best Actor Nominees For All Bollywood Award Shows Of 2018

As we get to the concluding segment of the year that has otherwise not really given a lot of path breaking performances, all the award giving bodies in the country would be sitting down to examine work to churn out their list of nominations. Yeah we know there are two long and important months to go and we may possibly have some potent performances coming up but we’ve already factored that in.

2017 has been extremely varied in terms of cinematic offering. While a good performance by Shah Rukh Khan in Jab Harry Met Sejal was undone by a poor execution on direction’s end, Salman sank his ship through his movie and also his performance. However when it comes to picking out performances that have laid an impact on screen, we have just about enough to make the cut.

So before the juries take their call, here we are with our version of possible Best Actor nominees for all award shows in 2018

Akshay Kumar – Toilet Ek Prem Katha

Playing a submissive husband also burdened with an obtuse father trying to sail through his ship in a very sensitive subject, Akshay Kumar as Keshav Sharma looked totally the part. His performance infused the necessary humor and also evoked just the right emotions that he needed to portray. While his performance in Jolly LLB 2 was good enough, this one though is more deserving.

Hrithik Roshan – Kaabil

One of the earliest movies of 2017 that had Hrithik play a blind husband avenging the killing of her wife, Hrithik was convincing enough in this riveting thriller. Good enough to warrant him a Best Actor nomination for sure.

Shah Rukh Khan – Jab Harry Met Sejal

While the film let him down bigtime with an underwhelming screenplay at its core, the truth is Shah Rukh Khan as Harry aka Harinder Singh Nehra delivered one of his most solid performances in the recent times. While the film failed to find a youth connect, SRK’s performance was the strongest facet of the movie.  He was refreshing and at his absolute charming best.

Varun Dhawan – Badrinath Ki Dulhania

One of the strongest performances in the first half of 2017 came from Varun Dhawan who displayed several emotions through his portrayal of Badrinath Bansal in the Shashank Khaitan directorial. While he showcased believable innocence in the first half, he brought the pain of rejection very movingly in the second half. Worthy of a nomination at least!

Rajkummar Rao – Newton

An earnest performances made so much believable with his simplistic adaptation of the written character, Rajkummar Rao really infused life in the character of Newton aka Nootan Kumar. We can’t comment if the film deserved to go as India’s official entry to Oscars, but Rajkummar certainly deserves a place in every award nominations next year.

Irrfan Khan – Hindi Medium

Unapologetic, honest, funny and absolutely entertaining was Irrfan Khan in Hindi Medium that went on to be one of the biggest hits of the year. Playing a Hindi speaking middle class man in the movie, Irrfan really lifted the movie on his own and justified his presence as the lead character of the movie. Totally worth a Best Actor nomination!

Ranveer Singh – Padmavati (Anticipated)

We ideally shouldn’t have gone ahead with an anticipation but since Ranveer Singh is most likely to occupy all awards list next year, we figured we should include him. Going by what we have seen in the trailer so far, Ranveer Singh is already a popular contender for the Best Actor trophy next year and we hope he doesn’t prove us wrong. He has already affirmed he can carry the negative shade with absolute conviction and if that turns out right, we are already in for a treat.
