While addressing the nation on the massive coronavirus outbreak, our honorable Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for a ‘Janata Curfew’ or self-imposed quarantine on 22nd March from 7am to 9pm. Citizens, barring those in essential services, are asked to stay at home as part of the social distancing exercise to stop the spread of the virus. PM further requested citizens to step out into balconies at 5pm and clap their hands as encouragement for those who are working hard day and night in essential services.

Bollywood celebrities, who have been observing self-isolation since the past few days, took to their social media handles to support this decision. Aamir Khan, Kartik Aaryan and Riteish Deshmukh among others requested fans to stay home and stay safe. Deepika Padukone called it a mature and comforting address by the Prime Minister and wrote: “I pledge to support the #JantaCurfew on Sunday #22ndMarch 7AM-9PM and also join in acknowledging the selfless and untiring efforts of our nation’s medical fraternity at 5PM! #JaiHind.”

In a chat with Pinkvilla, Kangana Ranaut also opened up about the Janata Curfew and shared, “Janata curfew is an incredible step, we should be ready for anything future holds for us and we all know practice makes us perfect, for now, if things go smooth, it will just be one day but if things derail this will come handy.” She also added that now is a good time for us to learn to enjoy our own company and accept ourselves.

How are you spending your day at home today?
