Dilip Kumar death: Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan condoles the actor's demise

Dilip Kumar the last secular star in Bollywood bid the world adieu and his demise is being mourned by fans in India and Pakistan alike. The 98-year-old star breathed his last on Wednesday morning in Hinduja Hospital where he was admitted a week ago after frequent episodes of breathlessness.

Condoling the tragic demise of the legendry actor, Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan posted a tweet. He remembered Dilip Kumar’s help in raising funds for the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital in Pakistan for which he had visited the country on PM Imran Khan's invitation several years ago.

The Pak PM wrote in his tweet, “Saddened to learn of Dilip Kumar's passing. I can never forget his generosity in giving his time to help raise funds for SKMTH when the project launched. This is the most difficult time - to raise first 10% of the funds & his appearance in Pak & London helped raise huge amounts. Apart from this, for my generation, Dilip Kumar was the greatest and most versatile actor.”

Dilip Kumar was born in Peshawar, Pakistan in 1922. His ancestral home is still there which was recently bought by Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government to convert it into a museum.

On Wednesday morning, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi too condoled the actor’s demise and wrote, “Dilip Kumar Ji will be remembered as a cinematic legend. He was blessed with unparalleled brilliance, due to which audiences across generations were enthralled. His passing away is a loss to our cultural world. Condolences to his family, friends and innumerable admirers. RIP.”

Dilip Kumar is survived by his wife Saira Banu.
