Meenakshi Sundereshwar's Sai Kumar aka Chetan Sharma opens up about reuniting with Sanya Malhotra after Pagglait

He feels humbled on receiving overwhelming responses for the film and states, "People have been following my work for a while now and they are visibly delighted with this one. I am amazed with the stories, screenshots and messages received as soon as film released.  Most of them praised the difference I could make between Alok from Pagglait and Sai in Meenakshi. Appreciation from people who had seen me in more intense and serious filmmaking is heartening."

Sharing about his role he said, "My role, Sai Kumar, is of a guy who is colleague and flat mate of Sundareshwar. He has a dislike for Sundareshwar’s sincerity and talent and he finds Sundar being in good books of their boss Senthil which is a threat to his chances. Out of desperation he conspires against Sundar but regrets later. I was shooting for Pagglait when I was asked by Taran Bajaj’s casting team to send an audition video for Sai Kumar, the script and brief mainly focused on Sai Kumar’s insecurity and desperation to make a good impression. In later stages, I tried to develop a trait for Sai that he attempts to make up for his lack of talent with discipline."

He further states, "Our director, Vivek Soni, envisioned Sai to be sort of a deadpan guy with a discomforting presence and goofy actions. With this and other information I worked on developing his backstory. Also since Sai spoke less, I worked on incorporating an awkward but hostile maneuver to it."

Sharma feels elated on reuniting with Sanya Malhotra after Pagglait and says, "I was delighted to work on another project with Sanya. I had seen fluidity of her craft and her dedication during Pagglait."

Talking about working with others he says, "Working with Abhimanyu Dassani was great, he was always up with new ideas and contributed to scenes. I really look up to Vivek Soni for his involvement with his characters. He incorporated his personal experiences in writing his characters and made them magical."

Talking about the film he added, "The film is a beautiful story about this newly wed couple who have to stay separated when Sundar joins a company unknown of the fact that they hire bachelors only. Story beautifully depicts their blooming love, separation, sacrifices they make and their bittersweet efforts to make it work."
