Neena Gupta was molested as a child: "Didn’t dare tell my mother because I was scared that she would say that it was my fault"

Neena Gupta is not just an actress par excellence, but she is also a strong woman who has carried herself with utmost dignity however the tides seemed to be in her life. Recently, she bared open her heart, and her life in her autobiography 'Sach Kahun Toh'. In a section of the book, she has opened up about being molested as a child when she went to a doctor. She also added that this has happened several times when she visited a doctor.

Talking about the episode, she revealed that she went to an opthalmologist for her eye checkup with her brother, who was later asked to sit in the waiting area. “The doctor started with examining my eye and then went down to check out other areas that were unconnected with my eye. I was scared stiff while it was happening and felt disgusted all the way home. I sat in a corner in the house and cried my eyes out when nobody was looking. But I didn’t dare tell my mother about this because I was so scared that she would say that it was my fault. That I had probably said or done something to provoke him,” she wrote adding, “This happened to me many times at the doctor’s.”

She also opened up about how a tailor got 'too handsy' while taking measurements, but she had to keep visiting him even after the incident 'because I felt like I had no choice. If I told my mother that I didn’t want 'to go to them, she would ask me why and I would have to tell her.'

In the country, women are still harassed and molested and many are still blamed for their predicament, instead of the pepetrators.
