Celebrities Participate In Relief Campaign, TN Government Puts Up Stickers

Megastar Rajinikanth has made another generous donation of Rs. 10 crore for the flood relief campaign. The actor was also the first to donate Rs. 10 Lakh to the Chief Minister’s Relief fund. The new donation was aimed at helping the pregnant women who might be stuck in adverse situations. Celebrities including Dhanush, Karthi, Sivakumar, A.R.Rahman, Sridivya and several others have donated generously to the campaign.

On the other hand, Tamil Nadu government has put stickers of Jayalalithaa on the relief materials. CPM leader U Vasuki stated, “The whole state is in crisis. This is not the right time to shower praises. Moreover, the state has not done anything commendable to praise their relief efforts. The timing of such propaganda is shocking!”

Further, the supporters of the Chief Minister have put up billboards in some parts of the state showing her holding a baby above water, similar to the poster of Baahubali. Recent reports have stated that the government had prior warning of the imminent disaster but did not act on it. Environment activists believe that the heavy construction along Chennai’s river banks might be to blame for the extent of the disaster.
