Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s Role In Savithri’s Biopic Revealed

It’s a known fact that ‘Mahanati’, a biopic on the legendary South Indian actress Savithri, is very much in the making. Actresses Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Keerthy Suresh will be seen essaying the lead role in the Tamil-Telugu bilingual. The movie will be helmed by Telugu director Nag Ashwin.

Though, we all know that Keerthy Suresh will be playing Savithri in the flick, speculations on Samantha’s role have been doing the rounds for quite some time now. The recent we hear about the flick is that Samantha will be seen playing the role of a journalist in the biopic. A source was quoted as saying, “Her character is like the eyes of the film, because it is from her perspective that the story is narrated. Revealing more details would be unfair to the film. I can only tell you that her character is based in the 80s”.

The source continued, “Samantha was so excited about the role because this was something she hasn’t done earlier”. Reportedly, the Theri actress is working quite hard to fit to her character in the period drama. “She wants to look her part, and live in the character of a reporter from those times. While she has interacted a great deal with present day journalists, she is aware that the scenario back then was totally different. She doesn’t want to leave anything to chance”, the source revealed.

On a related note, the biopic will talk about the tragic episodes in Savithri’s life and will also focus on the brighter moments. Other cast members of the flick are yet to be decided. Music composer Mickey J Meyer is scoring the tunes for the film.
