Edida Nageswara Rao Passes Away At 81

Tollywood suffered a major setback yesterday. Producer Edida Nageswara Rao, who produced some great classical films in the 70s and the 80s, passed away yesterday in the evening. The 81 year old veteran film producer lived with his wife and son Edida Sriram, who is also an actor.

In his career of 14 years, he produced a total of 10 movies under Poornodaya Movie Creations. His films like ‘Sankarabharanam’, ‘Swathi Muthyam’, ‘Swayamkrushi’, were widely appreciated. Most of the films produced by him won the National Film Award for best feature film in Telugu category. Also, some of his films were screened at several international film festivals.

He started his career as a theatre actor and dubbing artist. Later on he moved on to film production and gave many memorable movies to the Telugu Film Industry. He ended his career as a producer in 1992. He also worked as Nandi Awards Committee Chairman and National Film Award Committee member. His last rites will be performed today in the evening at Mahaprasthanam in Film Nagar.
