Varun Dhawan to play Priyanka Chopra's father in Citadel? Here's what we know

With the US version of Citadel starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden making news across the world, fans are also excited for the release of both Indian and Italian instalments of the main version. Actors Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu will be seen in the leading roles in the Indian instalment of the spy-thriller.

As per the latest development, Varun had a cameo in the fifth episode of Citadel. In the episode, Priyanka (Nadia Sinh) was seen making a call to his father Rahi Gambhir. The internet is now abuzz with the speculations that the voice on call was none other than Varun’s. It is expected that Varun would make an appearance in the final episode of Citadel. As already known, all instalments of Citadel are inter-connected. So, Varun could be featured as Priyanka's onscreen father and has also lent his voice to the older version of Rahi Gambhir, played by Paul Bazely. So, Varun’s story could be of Rahi in his younger days. Meanwhile, the finale of Citadel is scheduled to be aired on 26 May this year.

Series creator EP David Weil told Cinemablen that "We're not officially greenlit for a second season,” when asked about the reports which claimed that the team has already started work on Season 2. "However, what I can say is that you know, the Citadel universe is robust, and there are so many threads by the end of the season that would be very thrilling to pick up in a second season and hopefully beyond. So there's a lot of mythology to unpack,” he had then told the news portal.

Meanwhile, the six-episode series Citadel, which has been created by Russo Brothers’ AGBO and David Weil, features Richard Madden, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Stanley Tucci, and Lesley Manville in key roles. It had nearly 25 million viewers for its OTT premiere, making it Prime's biggest debut since 'Rings of Power'.
