But that hasn’t stopped him from spreading broad smiles across the face of his fans. Kapil who famously hosts The Kapil Sharma Show had a particularly tough time personally in 2017 as he battled alcohol addiction.

Kapil spoke about the rough phase of his life on the Aaj Tak talk show Seedhi Baat where he admitted he even had suicidal thoughts as he felt truly alone and wondered if those around him truly cared or were just beside him because of the fame.

According to an India Today report, when Kapil was asked if he ever went through a phase of having suicidal thoughts while talking about his hardships, the comedian said, “I used to feel like this at a certain phase of my life. I felt like there is no one around for me. I could see no one to help me understand things or take care of me. You don’t even realise who is connected with you only for their own personal benefits, especially for the artists."

Kapil will be seen next on the big screen in the film Zigwato directed by Nadita Das which will release in cinemas on March 17.
