Shark Tank India fame and BharatPe ’s former co-founder Ashneer Grover has been accused of embezzlement of funds. A civil suit has been filed against him by his company. Even his wife Madhuri Jain Grover has been named in the case. The fintech unicorn has also slapped the damage charges of a whopping Rs 88.67 crore on Grover.

Reacting to the news, Grover, who has been avidly promoting his autobiography Doglapan , tweeted, “Come on Press: Ek story kitni baar bechoge ! Saal ke shuru mein bhi same - end mein bhi same. Even I am bored with this Déjà Vu (Chu). Kuchh to naya karo - paise ke liye creativity mat kill karo yaar. Chalo pic to nayi vaali lagalo.”

Grover also slammed BharatPe co-founder for lack of support. Taking a quick dig at him he recalled how once he requested to bunk office in order to complete his IIT degree. He wrote, “ Doglapan: Shashvat (Co-Founder) to me. Bhai degree poori karni hai. Ek saal office bunk kar ke IIT poora kar leta hoon. Secondary kara dena aur salary bhi mat rokna - investor ko mat batana. Shashvat to Board: No objection in filing case against Ashneer.” For the unversed, Grover and Shashvat co-founded BharatPe in 2018.

The civil suit alleged that Grover, Madhuri, and other family members have created fake bills, enlisted fictitious vendors, and forged them. They are even accused of destroying the evidence. The Delhi High Court has issued notices to Grover’s family and asked them to respond within two weeks. It will hear about the matter again on January 9. Meanwhile, after irregularities in the audit, Grover’s Madhuri Jain, who was the head of controls at BharatPe, was fired earlier this year. Later in March, Ashneer resigned as CEO and denied the allegations imposed on him of cheating.
