Winners unveiled at the 2023 International Emmy Awards

The pinnacle of global television excellence was celebrated on Monday night in New York during the 2023 International Emmy Awards. Representing 20 countries across six continents, the 56 nominees, recognized by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, showcased the diverse and expansive talent in the industry.

Reflecting the profound influence of streaming platforms in the international TV landscape, Amazon and Netflix emerged as major forces, particularly dominating the highly competitive best drama category this year.

Streaming Giants' Impact

Netflix contributed two noteworthy nominees to the mix, Extraordinary Attorney Woo, a South Korean legal drama featuring Park Eun-bin as a brilliant rookie female lawyer with autism and a genius IQ, and The Empress, a German period drama portraying the legendary love story between Austrian-Hungarian Emperor Franz Joseph and Elisabeth von Wittelsbach.

Meanwhile, Amazon showcased its diverse offerings with two compelling nominees: Yosi, the Regretful Spy, an Argentine historical thriller directed by Daniel Burman, delving into a real-life intelligence scandal with far-reaching consequences for Latin America, and the British thriller The Devil’s Hour, starring Peter Capaldi.
