SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus RRR has had a thundering response at the box office on its release on March 25. The movie stars Ram Charan and Jr NTR as courageous freedom fighters who strike a close bond while rebelling against the atrocities of the Britishers. The movie had domestic collections of over Rs 130 crore on its first day itself. Now, its golden run at the box office continues as it has minted around Rs 23-23.50 crore at the box office.
The movie that had earned around Rs 18 crore on its first day, saw a weekend jump on its day 2. RRR garnered between Rs 23 to 24 crore on its second day and is expected to see a further jump due to the Sunday today (March 27). Trade analyst Ramesh Bala also tweeted from his official social media handle that the movie has acquired Rs 24 crore. Take a look.

According to Bala’s tweets, the SS Rajamouli directorial has minted $1.28 million at the Australian box office on its second day. Furthermore, his reports stated that the Ram Charan and Jr NTR starrer has already crossed $7 million in the USA. The movie has also broken the record of Prabhas ’ Baahubali 2 which had minted Rs 122 crore on its opening day.
Talking about the film, it is a fictional tale based on the lives of real-life pre-Independence revolutionaries Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem who fought against the British Raj. It also stars Bollywood stars Alia Bhatt and Ajay Devgn in extended cameos. The movie furthermore features Olivia Morris, Ray Stevenson, and Allison Doody in pivotal roles.
Desimartini’s review for RRR read, “SS Rajamouli has once woven a sheer opulence be it through the diverse sub-plots, fierce performances, and extravagant execution in RRR. The most validating factor of the movie is that despite the signature Rajamouli style 'overly majestic' action sequences and performances, this movie does not come across as caricaturish or forced. The writing by Vijayendra Prasad is nuanced but the movie falters in the screenplay.”
