Vijay Sethupathi and director Aarumugakumar had recently announced their second collaboration, which has been titled Ace. The title teaser, which was unveiled by the makers earlier, featured Kannada actress Rukmini Vasanth who is making her Tamil acting debut with this Vijay Sethupathi-starrer. While fans have been making speculations about the film's plot, director Aarumugakumar dropped a few key details about the film.

Recently, the director revealed that actress Rukmini Vasanth, who is making her Tamil acting debut with Ace, will be essaying the role of a Malaysian-born Tamil who is said to be the ‘soul of the film’. The team is currently hoping that the Kannada actress will be able to dub for herself. “She knows how to speak Tamil. So we are going to do a voice test and see if she can do dubbing,” the director said.
On the other hand, many reports earlier speculated that the upcoming film would be based on gambling since the title teaser hinted at such a possibility. However, director Aarumugakumar has now come forward to quash the rumours and stated that although gambling is part of the film, the movie is not entirely based on the game. He also revealed that the film will be a blend of life, love, crime, and comedy. Vijay Sethupathi’s character is said to be that of a mysterious person, whose identity is going to be important for the plotline. The makers also revealed that KGF-fame Kannada actor BS Avinash will also be part of the upcoming crime comedy.

The title teaser of the film Ace introduced the lead characters in a stylish and vibrant glimpse. The illustrative teaser revealed Kannada actress Rukmini Vasanth as the female lead, while leading man Vijay Sethupathi was introduced against the backdrop of dice and cards. The new teaser also showcased glimpses of bike chase scenes, betting, guns, and burglaries.
Besides Vijay Sethupathi and Rukmini, the film will also feature Yogi Babu, Divya Pillai, Babloo Prithveeraj, Muthu Kumar, Raj Kumar, Denes Kumar, Alvin Martin, Priscilla Nair, Jasper Supayah, Kaarthick Jay, Nagulan, Zahrinaris, and others in key roles. Most of the film's shooting took place in Malaysia, and the film is currently in its post-production stage.
