'Dev Sahab was a legend' : Former child artist Rahul Singh aka Master Rinku on fond memories with the superstar on his birth anniversary- Exclusive

Today marks the birth anniversary of the legendary actor-director-writer Dev Anand . The thespian’s glorious contribution as an artist is eternally immortalized in the history of Indian cinema. On the occasion, former child artist Rahul Singh aka Master Rinku spoke to Desimartini about his fond memories with the superstar while working with him as his onscreen son in the 1989 movie Lashkar .

Talking about his first meeting with Dev Anand, Rahul Singh tells us, “First time I met Dev Anand Sir at Anand Dubbing studio, I was introduced to Dev Sahab by Dev Saab’s sister .. she praised me so much in front of dev Sahab. That day Dev Anand Sahab told me that he wants to work with me and he will call me someday for some movie to play his son ... just imagine the humbleness of dev Sahab that he his saying me a 7 yr old kid that he wants to work with me.”

Furthermore, remembering his delightful memories while working with Dev Anand in Lashkar, the now content creator and filmmaker added, “Believe it or not after 2 years I was called by director Jagdish Sharma Ji for movie Lashkar. On my first day on set I met sir, and directly he started rehearsing with me his lines, I thought he is talking with me casually.. sir was so natural even for a second I never felt he is doing acting .. during lunch time sir told me to ‘remember I told you I want to work with you and will make you my son in the movie. Are you happy? I was speechless don’t know what to reply .. I touched his feet, he gave me his blessing. There are heroes and then there are Legends Dev Sahab was a legend.” Take a look at a rare picture of Rahul as Master Rinku along with Dev Anand that was shared with us by the former child artist.

Talking about the film Lashkar, it was helmed by Jagdish Kadar. The movie also starred Aditya Pancholi, Sonam, Madhavi, Hemant Birje, and Jaaved Jaffrey in the lead roles. The movie was a huge success at the box office.
