Don 3 ends up in Shah Rukh Khan’s pile of rejects despite fan demands; but Farhan Akhtar has a plan B

Shah Rukh Khan has been meticulously selecting his next lineup of projects after Jawan, Dunki, and Pathan. Since the actor is in his last leg of shoots, he is reading multiple scripts offered to him lately. One of which happened to be filmmaker Farhan Akhtar ’s Don 3 , the sequel to Don 2 that featured SRK in the leading role. According to the latest reports, the superstar has declined the film for time being owing to its unconvincing script.

A source close to Bollywood Hungama revealed that Shah Rukh was offered Don 3 but he turned it down. "It’s not like Shah Rukh Khan didn't like the script. It's just that Shah Rukh was not fully convinced. He knows Don is an iconic role and would like to step back into the character once he’s completely confident of the script. The box office scenario is not very healthy and he wants to be doubly sure before signing on the dotted line,” the source said.

Well, Farhan Akhtar, who also helmed the first two parts of the Don franchise, has gone back to his drawing board to make the changes to the script. It seems the filmmaker has a plan B in his writings which he hopes would convince the superstar to sign the movie. The buzz around the anticipated sequel is quite high and fans are eagerly waiting for the announcement, hence filmmaker would have to be doubly sure about his script when he meets the superstar again.

For the uninitiated, the 2006 film Don was conceived as an adaptation to Amitabh Bachchan starrer 1978 movie of the same name. It featured Shah Rukh alongside Priyanka Chopra and Arjun Rampal in prominent roles, and also had Kareena Kapoor in a cameo. The second part Don 2 was released in 2011 that again featured SRK with Priyanka Chopra and Lara Dutta. Meanwhile, there are rumors that the upcoming Don 3 will reunite senior Don, Amitabh Bachchan, and his successor Shah Rukh Khan.
