‘Ek number baat boli hai’: Neena Gupta warns those who trolled her for speaking in Hindi and netizens agree

Neena Gupta is among those actors who have played a long and successful inning in Bollywood on account of her versatility and zeal to excel in difficult circumstances. The Bollywood actor and television director who has received several awards including two National Film Awards, three Filmfare Awards and two Screen Awards has been part of some of the most memorable films made in Indian cinema. However, she didn’t seem to be in a very happy mood in her latest Instagram video post.

The Badhaai Ho actor could be seen slamming trolls who mocked her for speaking in Hindi. She didn’t just stop at that and even warned people against using the term 'Hindi-medium' for her. In the Instagram post titled ‘Khabardar Hindi medium bola toh’, Neena could be heard saying, “She is heard saying in the clip, "Humare desh mein na kuch terms hoti hai, jaise 'Arey yeh toh TV actor hai'. Ek term hota hai 'yeh toh Hindi-medium hai', aur ek term hoti hai 'Arey haath se kha rahi hai, chee! Churi-kaate se nahi kha rahi hai'."

She added, "Mujhe bahot baar bolte hain 'Hindi-medium hai' kyunki main achi Hindi bolti hoon, kyunki yeh meri matribhasha hai. Toh main yeh kehna chaah rahi hu ki isme hume kabhi sharam nahi karni chahiye. I am proud to be 'Hindi-medium'. I am proud to eat and dress up the way I want to. And I am proud to be called a TV actor. Hum kayin baar gussa ho jate hai ki hume 'Hindi-medium' kaha, ya apne aap ko neecha samajhne lag jate hai. I am proud to be what I am, if I feel from inside that I am doing the right thing. Am I right?", she adds.

Her fans seemed to have liked her ‘I don’t care attitude’. A fan wrote, "So true Mam, hamaree dsh mei he English ko itni importance dee jaati hai nahi to kayi desho mei to apni languages he boli jaati hai.” “Spain talks in their language Spanish, Italy in Italian, France in French then why can’t Indians talk in Hindi,” said another. A netizen wrote, “Yes absolutely. I don’t understand these stars who want their children to act in Hindi films but always spoke to them in English at home. Why would they do that? You live in India, you want them to act in Hindi films, why would you not teach them the language?"

Meanwhile, Neena Gupta was last seen in Goodbye alongside Amitabh Bachchan and Rashmika Mandanna. She was also seen in Sooraj Barjatya’s Uunchai co-starring Amitabh, Boman Irani and Anupam Kher.
