Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra, lately known as maskman, finally uncovered his face in front of the media during the UT 69 trailer launch on Wednesday. It was the first time in months that Kundra removed his automatic iron mask and showed his face with a smile. The businessman got teary-eyed when he opened up about his painful phase when the pornographic controversy broke out in 2021. He was jailed in November 2022 and since then he has worn masks in public

In the video doing rounds on the internet, Raj could be seen dressed in all-black outfit. He could be seen telling the media, “It was painful for my family. Why drag my wife, kids, and my family? Point your fingers at me but not my family." He then took some time to hold his tears back. For the unversed, Raj is making his acting debut with the biopic that traces his journey in prison where he spent two months.

Talking about the film, he said it is not a sob story. “Meri pehli film hai. Solo hero movie hai.” He then did Shah Rulh Khan’s signature step and continued, “It is not a sob story, it is based on a true story. And it is only the story about the journey I went through inside. It is not just about me, it is about people, emotion and relations." Further director Shahnawaz added that the film is a light-hearted human story. Further, Raj also revealed that he used to write journals in the jail and shared the ‘scribbled’ notes to the writer to turn it into a script. “It is not my story but more a story of a human stuck in the system,” he added.

Further, Raj also praised wife Shilpa Shetty and said, ““She is my Rock of Gibraltar. Had she not been there, I wouldn’t have survived inside the jail. I was ready to finish everything inside. She gave me faith and hope and said, ‘Come out, we will solve this out.’ Those 63 days were the hardest days of my life and I hope nobody goes through what I did. I would like to thank Shilpa for everything. She means the world to me. And like it’s said, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.” Meanwhile, UT 69 is set to release in theatres on November 3, 2023.
