Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran continues his winning streak at the box office with his latest movie, Guruvayoorambala Nadayil. The comedy-drama, directed by Vipin Das, is fast emerging as one of the big hits of Malayalam cinema this year.
According to reports, Guruvayoorambala Nadayil has collected nearly Rs 30 crore from worldwide ticket sales within the first three days of its release. The film is holding strong at the Kerala box office, where it has raked in more than Rs 11 crore. The film debuted in Kerala with a gross of Rs 3.8 crore on Thursday. On Friday and Saturday, it earned Rs 3.7 crore and Rs 4.5 crore respectively. Reports also indicate that the film has grossed more than $2 million (approximately Rs 10 million) in the overseas market.
Going by the trends, the Sunday collection is expected to be higher than the previous three days for Guruvayoorambala Nadayil.
Guruvayoorambala Nadayil opened in cinemas to mostly positive reviews. The film revolves around the strong brotherhood formed between two men who are about to become part of the same family. However, their love for each other is tested when a past connection between them is revealed.
Basil Joseph plays a co-lead alongside Prithviraj. The buddy comedy also tests Prithviraj's ability to shoulder a full-fledged comedy movie.
"Vipin Das uses all the tricks in the book, including the repeated song interlude of the old Tamil song 'Azhagiya Laila' and dialogues from Mohanlal's movies to keep us entertained. It's a light-hearted, mindless comedy that you probably will not regret watching," wrote Manoj Kumar R for Desimartini.
