The film marks the acting debut of Irrfan Khan’s son Babil, alongside Bulbbul fame Tripti Dimri .

Taking to her Instagram stories, Kangana not only praised the movie but hailed her fellow Himachali pahadi girl Tripti’s performance. “Qala is a great film, it’s not your usual three-act structure neither its literal story of the physical world. It’s the metaphorical representation of creative consciousness Watch it with an open mind sit back relax let it flow… magic will unfold.” She added, “All departments are great, special mention for all performances. Babil as debutant is terrific Tripti Dimri as a fellow Himachali pahadi girl makes me proud. I just can’t take my eyes off her. She is born for greatness.”

After smashing the directorial debut bulbbul in her second film as a director penetrates into the dreadful depths of the human psyche. And does the unthinkable dance with demons of desire, hate, jealousy, and insecurities…!”

Qala is a psychological drama about a talented singer who is haunted by her past. She also struggles with the pressure of success, a mother's disdain, and the voices of doubt within her. The film is backed by Anushka Sharma’s brother Karnesh Ssharma under Clean Slate Filmz. Anushka has also made a cameo appearance in the movie. The film was released on December 1 on Netflix.

Meanwhile, Kangana is currently busy shooting for her upcoming political drama Emergency. She is directing the movie as well as starring in it. She will be seen portraying the role of iconic political figure former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. The movie is set for a 2023 release.
