One day ago, Lock Upp contestant and erotica actress Poonam Pandey took social media by storm with a post from her official handle. This particular post shook the nation because it announced her death. It was stated that Poonam passed away after losing a battle to cervical cancer. Many celebrities such as Munawar Faruqui, Kangana Ranaut and Karanvir Bohra expressed shock and paid their last respects. However, there were several netizens including singer Rahul Vaidya who just couldn’t digest the news about Poonam’s sudden demise. Well, turns out they were onto something.

Poonam is alive and well! That’s right. The actress took to her official social media handle to share a video of herself, explaining why she took the decision to fake her death. It was actually to raise awareness about the disease. Poonam shared, “I'm alive. I didn't die because of cervical cancer. Unfortunately I cannot say that about those hundreds and thousands of women who have lost their lives because of cervical cancer.” Another note penned by Poonam read: “Just the day before, the Union Budget highlighted the cause as well but I can say with certainty that only a small fraction would've registered it.”

She further shared that netizens can express their frustration about this campaign, but to her this is not a ‘lip service’ as she is committing her entire body to the service of cervical cancer. As expected, the actress is being heavily trolled. Soon after her video surfaced, Bigg Boss 14 runner up Rahul tweeted: “And I was right!! Now that poonam is alive I can surely say RIP PR/ marketing. New low of creating a sensational/viral campaign .. welcome to KALYUG.” Rakhi Sawant also shared an angry video calling Poonam a 'behen ki pakodi'.

Meanwhile his good friend and actor Aly Goni stated: “Fuking cheap publicity stunt it was nothing else.. u guys think it’s funny ? U and ur PR team should be boycotted I swear.. bloody losers and to all the media portals we people here trust u that’s y we believed it.. shame on u all..” In the comment section of Poonam’s post, filmmaker Ekta Kapoor wrote: “This is awareness of which vaccine not to use !!! The company that encouraged such an insensitive campaign !!!! This company shud b sued.” Several others slammed Poonam and called this campaign ‘distasteful’.
