Sidharth Malhotra ’s first interaction with Shah Rukh Khan was nothing short of amazing on the sets of My Name Is Khan as the superstar gave him notes on how to become an actor. Sidharth who was working as an assistant director on the sets of the Karan Johar film recalled during an interview with Zakir Khan how he was assigned the job of giving the clap before the scene and Shah Rukh Khan was sweet enough to help him do it in the right way because he was nervous.

Sidharth whose film Mission Majnu is all the rage on Netflix at the moment, told Zakir Khan how his first attempt at interacting with Shah Rukh Khan on the sets of My Name Is Khan was a failure, he was left surprised when the star started giving him notes out of the blue before a take which he was giving a clap for.

The Shershaah actor revealed that at first, he tried to speak to Shah Rukh by offering biscuits to the actor who was having tea during a break. While he was turned down politely by the actor, Sidharth said that one time while it was just him and Shah Rukh on a street before scene, the actor started talking out of the blue leaving him confused what he was saying.

“We had first met in Los Angeles, it was his first day on set there. We had already finished two-three days of shoot and I had practised my claps to avoid fumbling in front of him. He was very sweet, his warmth is quite apparent, be it his upbringing or his ability to make everyone around him comfortable. Since it was the first day, I wasn’t able to talk to him. A few hours later he was having his coffee, and I was looking for excuses [to go to him] because I am from Delhi too. I offered him biscuits but he didn’t take any. I was little upset that he didn’t and thought maybe he didn’t eat biscuits.”

“When we started shooting, while I was sitting on the floor waiting to give a clap, it was only Shah Rukh sir and me on the location. It was somewhere on the road and he suddenly started talking. ‘You know, come to the location first and see the place and the props to know what you can use.’ I thought, it’s just the two of use who is he talking to and I asked him ‘Sir?’”

Sidharth further revealed that Shah Rukh had learnt that he wanted to be an actor and was thus sweetly thought of giving him advise. The Mission Majnu actor said that it was this moment that led him to respect Shah Rukh Khan even more. He further revealed that he felt like he was promoted when Shah Rukh Khan called him to take notes on a VFX shot which he was shooting in Film City Mumbai one time.
