Since Bollywood is competing on biggest flops this year, meet the stars who have topped the list in the first half of 2022

Bollywood is going through a rough couple of months after movies returning to cinemas post the pandemic hiatus. The number of hits delivered can safely be counted on finger tips as long delayed films finally find their way to the big screens.

Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, The Kashmir Files , Gangubai Kathiawadi and more recently Jugjugg Jeeyo have been the only releases which are even worth mentioning among the hits, while the rest seem to be busy competing to win the title of the biggest box-office dud this year.

From Kangana Ranaut ’s actioner Dhaakad to Akshay Kumar ’s historic epic Samrat Prithviraj several films are competing in that race to win the title. Here’s which film has been the biggest flop of the first half of 2022 yet.

Bollywood’s biggest stars like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn , John Abraham, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor have all failed at enticing the audiences into the theatres with their films in 2022. While at one point, Kangana Ranaut’s mega budget actioner took the cake by failing to get nearly audience at all in the cinemas, Akshay Kumar topped the film’s disastrous fate with his mega budget box office dud Samrat Prithviraj in the very next month.

The historic epic isn’t the only flop Akshay has delivered this year. The star opened his 2022 account with action comedy Bachchhan Paandey which despite a decent start failed to compete with the growing popularity of The Kashmir Files.

There’s sincerely no doubt that the historic epic Samrat Prithviraj led by Akshay Kumar has been the biggest let down of the year so far. The film that which was made on a budget of Rs. 200 crores failed to even recover half that amount at the ticket windows and Bollywood’s going to need a much bigger flop to top this one.

Samrat Prithiviraj earned Rs. 65 crores in its lifetime and arrived on OTT within weeks of its release.

Akshay’s Bachchhan Paandey occupies the slot of the second biggest dud of the year but thanks to a marginally lower budget of the film as compared to Samrat Prithviraj. Made on a budget of Rs. 180 crores the action comedy which released in March earned a little over Rs. 50 crores in its lifetime.

Kangana Ranaut, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor’s films fall next in line in topping the list of flops. While the actress’ action avatar in Dhaakad failed to sell any tickets, Ranveer and Shahid’s Jayeshbhai Jordaar and Jersey respectively faced similar losses of approximately Rs. 74 crores.

Dhaakad made on a budget of Rs. 85 crores collected only Rs. 3 crores in total during its lifetime. Jayeshbhai Jordaar collected Rs. 15.59 crores in total while Jersey did marginally better, earning Rs. 20.5 crores in total at the box office.
