    It looks like the dream collaboration between Suriya and Karthik Subbaraj is finally taking off! Recently, the makers of the film held a test shoot in Hyderabad and are planning on officially commencing the shoot in the first week of June in the Andamans. The first schedule has been chalked out for 40 days, after which the team will head to Ooty and other locations. Suriya 44 is being co-produced by Suriya's home banner, 2D Entertainment, and Karthik Subbaraj's Stone Bench Films.

    Popular music composer Santhosh Narayanan was recently onboarded in Suriya 44. It is interesting to note that he has been a frequent collaborator in Karthik Subbaraj’s films.

    Earlier, it was reported that Malayalam actor Joju George had been roped in to play a pivotal role in Suriya 44. Incidentally, the actor will be collaborating with the Jigarthanda DoubleX director for the second time after their hit collaboration in the Dhanush-starrer Jagame Thandhiram.

    Actress Pooja Hegde is rumoured to be cast as the female lead of the movie. There were also rumours that the actress had joined the star cast with the condition that she would be the only female lead in the movie. For the uninitiated, Pooja had walked out of Mahesh Babu's Guntur Kaaram after Sreeleela was cast as the second female lead. However, there has been nothing officially said about Pooja's casting.

    Written and directed by Karthik Subbaraj, Suriya 44 is the first time that Suriya and Karthik are working together on a movie. When the project was first announced, the makers shared a first-look poster, which featured an arrow piercing the bark of a tree, with flames seen in the background along with the silhouette of a car. The caption under the poster read, ‘#Love Laughter War’, hinting that the film might be an action-packed romantic comedy. The team has yet to reveal other key details about the cast and crew of the project.
