It seems fans of Jayam Ravi will have to wait longer for Thani Oruvan 2. According to industry sources, director Mohan Raja has decided to put the project on hold and move on to his next project. However, an official confirmation is still awaited.
Mohan Raja is now expected to direct Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi's next film. According to reports, the film is penned by Telugu filmmaker BVS Ravi and the project will go on the floors in August.

It's believed that AGS Entertainment prioritized Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming movie The Greatest of All Time over Thani Oruvan 2, delaying the latter's production.
The Greatest of All Time is AGS Entertainment's most expensive project and is being shot on a massive scale. The filming took place in many parts of the world and is expected to feature some cutting-edge special effects. The filmmakers have also roped in Hollywood studio Lola VFX to handle the movie's VFX, which is expected to be one of the highlights of the film. Considering the stakes involved, the production company might have made a strategic call to avoid launching another big-budget movie simultaneously.
As the producers will be busy with The Greatest of All Time until October, Mohan Raja seems to have decided to utilize this time to make a movie with Chiranjeevi.
This new project will be Mohan's second collaboration with Chiranjeevi after Godfather. He directed Chiranjeevi in the 2022 political drama, which was a remake of the Malayalam blockbuster Lucifer.
Meanwhile, Chiranjeevi is busy shooting for Vishwambhara. The upcoming film is billed as a fantasy drama inspired by mythology. Written and directed by Mallidi Vassishta, the film also stars Trisha as the female lead.
