Adipurush: Prabhas' fans beat a man criticising actor's role as Lord Ram in Om Raut's directorial

South sensation Prabhas starrer Adipurush finally arrived in theatres on Friday and his fans thronged in large numbers to watch him in the role of Lord Ram. While a section of people was disappointed with the film, others lauded Om Raut’s attempt of retelling the Indian epic Ramayana on the big screen. After the release of the film, several incidents from the theatres have taken the internet by storm. In one of the videos, a man could be seen abused and thrashed for expressing his disappointment over the film.

A video captured outside the theatre in Hyderabad shows a man sharing his review after watching the movie. He could be heard saying in Telugu, "They have kept all monsters from playstation games in this movie. There is nothing good in the film except for Hanuman, the background score and some 3D shots." He further added that Prabhas was didn't suit for the lead role of Lord Ram. “In Baahubali, he was like a king and there was a royalty. Seeing the royalty in that, they took him for this role. Om Raut did not show Prabhas properly,” he added.

Soon after, Prabhas’ fans who heard his negative review became violent and began thrashing him violently. The man suffered an injury on his head and face and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Meanwhile, several other incidents including a man thrashed for sitting on a vacant Hanuman seat, a monkey entering a theatre and fans smashing glasses of movie theatre among others surfaced on the internet.

Backed by T-series and Retrophile, Adipurush also stars Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Sunny Singh, and Devdutta Nage in pivotal roles. Vatsal Sheth, Sonal Chauhan and Trupti Toradmal are also part of the cast. The film was released in theatres on June 16, 2023, in Hindi and Telugu, along with dubbed versions in Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam.
