The Ranbir Kapoor starrer Shamshera had a lot riding on it but unfortunately for the movie, it is turning out to be just another addition to the long list of box office flops this year. While the movie opened to a disappointing collection, it could only generate Rs 31 crore on its first weekend. Now, the collections have dropped even further on the sixth day of the film’s release.

According to a news report by India Today, Shamshera has now amassed only Rs 2.30 crore on its sixth day. This has resulted in its total collection being Rs 39 crore. It seems that the lifetime collection of the Ranbir Kapoor starrer will only amount to Rs 65 to Rs 75 crore which is very meager for its mammoth budget of Rs 150 crore.

The period drama had opened with a collection of only Rs 10.25 crore which itself spelled trouble. While one thought that some word of mouth and the craze of Ranbir Kapoor returning to the big screens after a gap of 4 years will do something to uplift the collections, that was alas, not the case. The collections of Shamshera further saw a drop and now it seems that the movie’s fate is sealed for the worse.

Earlier the director of Shamshera, Karan Malhotra shared a heartwarming note on his social media handle wherein he spoke of embracing the failure of the film. The filmmaker stated, “My Dearest Shamshera, you are majestic the way you are. It is important for me to express myself on this platform because here is where all the love, the hate, the celebration, and the humiliation exists for you. I want to unimaginably apologize to you for abandoning you for these past few days as I could not handle the hate and rage. My withdrawal was my weakness and there are no excuses for it. But now I am here, standing beside you hand in hand feeling proud and honored that you are mine.”
