Ananya Panday on working with Deepika Padukone in Gehraiyaan: ‘I was nervous; was so fond of her as an actor’

One of the most talked about things of Shakun Batra ’s latest release Gehraiyaan, other than the title, was the star cast. The unexpected team of actors was like a breath of fresh air for the audience and their on-screen chemistry successfully won fans over. While Deepika Padukone portrayed the role of Alisha, Ananya Panday was seen as her cousin Tia who was engaged to Zain aka Siddhant Chaturvedi. Dhairya Karwa , on the other hand played the character of Alisha’s boyfriend and Tia’s best friend Karan.

Deepika on Gehraiyaan: “Would like to believe I made Ananya, Siddhant and Dhairya feel as comfortable as possible” 

Well, in a recent interview Deepika shared that as their senior in the industry, she tried her best to make Siddhant, Ananya and Dhairya feel comfortable on set. But how nervous were her co-stars? Speaking to Pinkvilla, Ananya shared, “I was definitely nervous because before I became an actor, I was so fond of her as an actor. I used to admire all the choices she made. I found her extremely brave and now even getting to know her as a person, there’s so much that I have learnt from her. And she was very helpful in the scenes that we were together in.”

Ananya went on to share that at no point did Deepika make her feel like she was new in Bollywood. The Student of the Year 2 star remembered, “If I even messed up lines in a way, she never made me feel like I was messing up. I feel like I am so blessed to have that strong performance opposite me because that only helped my performance.”

After her deep performance in Gehraiyaan, Ananya will next be seen in Puri Jagannadh's multilingual film Liger opposite Vijay Deverakonda . She also has Farhan Akhtar’s Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, alongside Siddhant and Adarsh Gourav, in her kitty.
