We finally get our first look at Lady Gaga as the iconic Harley Quinn, thanks to director Todd Phillips. In the picture, we see her before her eventual transformation from doctor Harleen Quinze to Harley Quinn.

Currently, the cast is filming in New York but is expected to shift to Los Angeles in the coming weeks. The movie will not be connected to the main DCU lineup but will be part of the Elseworlds lineup alongside Matt Reeves Batman.

While we do know that the sequel to 2019 Joker will be focusing on Joker's time in Arkham Asylum and his relationship with his psychiatrist Harley Quinze, there is a strong possibility that the movie could be from her perspective.

Harley Quinn's origin story has been told from her perspective a few times, the most powerful being in the animated Batman series, where her character was first created.

The title Folie à Deux' also suggested this as it implies that both Fleck and Quinn share the same delusion. According to Weekly Planet Podcast, Lady Gaga's Harley Quinn will have a bigger role than originally reported.

This is where the song and dance numbers come in, as Harley views her relationship with Joker through musical sequences.

Both Joaquin Phoenix and Zazie Beetz will reprise their role from the original with Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, and Jacob Lofland joining the cast of the sequel.

We will get to see more first looks as well as BTS videos from the sets in the coming months.

Joker: Folie à Deux is set to release on 4 October 2024.

Meanwhile, the next DC movie to hit the big screen is Shazam! The Fury of the Gods. In the sequel, Shazam will take on the Titans Hespera and her sister Kalypso played by Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu respectively.

Shazam! 2 boasts of an ensemble cast that includes Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Rachel Zegler, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Meagan Good, Lucy Liu, Djimon Hounsou, and Helen Mirren.

SHAZAM! Fury of the Gods directed by David F. Sandberg will hit theaters on 17 March 2023.
