Dhanush's 'Vaathi' first reactions are out and it looks like this could be the actor's first big hit of 2023

Dhanush 's highly anticipated period -drama has finally hit the big screen. The movie is bilingual, having been shot in Tamil and Telugu, also marking the actor's Tollywood debut.

He will be playing the role of a college professor in the movie, the movie is directed by Venky Atluri who previously directed the rom-com Rang De starring Keerthy Suresh and Nithiin.

Composer G V Prakash is handling the music for the movie with Dinesh Krishnan handling the camera and editing being helmed by Naveen Nooli.

The cast of the movie includes Dhanush, Samyuktha, P. Sai Kumar, Tanikella Bharani, Samuthirakani, Thotapalli Madhu, Narra Srinivas, Pammi Sai, and Hyper Aadi.

So it look slike Dhanush's Vaathi might be the actor's first big hit movie of 2023. Meanwhile, the actor has a lot line up this year, he will be starting in the upcoming period-action movie Captain Miller.

The movie will mark Matheswaran's directorial debut and his first collaboration with Dhanush.

The movie will also be the first time Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar will work alongside Dhanush, making Captain Miller his second Tamil movie after Rajinikanth's Jailer.

Dhanush will also be donning the director's cap for the second time this year after the 2017 movie Pa Paandi. The movie will be produced by Dhanush's own production company Wunderbar Films in association with Sun Picture

Pa Paandi which he also co-wrote starred veteran actors Rajkiran and Revathi and followed the story of Pandian Pazhanisami(Rajkiran) a retired stuntman who goes off in search of his long-lost love Poonthendra(Revathi).

The movie was a critical and commercial hit and was even remade in Kannada as Ambi Ning Vayassaytho. No doubt Dhanush wants to recreate the success of Pa Paandi with his next directorial venture as well.

Vaathi is produced by Suryadevara Naga Vamsi and Sai Soujanya under the banner Sithara Entertainments in association with Fortune Four Cinemas and Srikara Studios.

Vaathi is currently running in theaters.
