Despite opening to positive reviews from critics, Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey failed to make a mark at the box office. The sports drama’s collection further deteriorated on Tuesday by 15 percent as compared to its collection on Monday i.e Day 4. As of now, the total five-day box office collection stands at Rs 17.81 crore.

Jersey is an official remake of Telugu star Nani’s 2019 film by the same name. The film arrived in theatres on April 22. Gowtam Tinnanuri, who had helmed the original flick, has also directed its Hindi remake starring Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles. Backed by Allu Entertainment , Dil Raju Production, Sithara Entertainments and Brat Films, the sports drama revolves around a former cricketer who returns to the game for his son's wish of a jersey.

As per market analysts, Jersey’s box office collection is heavily affected by Yash -starrer KGF : Chapter 2 which is still raking in big moolah since it was released on April 14. The Hindi version of the Prashanth Neel directorial has so far earned Rs 329.40 crore and still going strong at the ticket windows. Even SS Rajamouli’s RRR is rock-steady at the box office in its fifth weekend despite limited screens and shows.

According to early estimates, Jersey collected Rs 1.36 to 1.45 crore on Day 5, taking the total collection to Rs 17.81 crore. If the box office trend continues, it might end up being a major flop by earning a lifetime total of just Rs 20 crore. It is also being predicted that the film can be discontinued from the theatres by its second Friday.

Meanwhile, Jersey's lifetime collection is likely to be similar to Shahid's flop movies like Rangoon and Chance Pe Dance which also managed to earn around Rs. 20 crores at the box office. While his superhit movie Kabir Singh, the Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy, raked in Rs. 20.21 cr on its opening day itself. Jersey will soon be replaced by Tiger Shroff's Heropanti 2 and Ajay Devgn 's Runway 34 in the coming week.
