Joker: Folie à Deux has finally started production and we get our first look at Gotham's clown prince of crime from Arkham Asylum.

The sequel to 2019's critical and commercial hit, which grossed over one billion dollars at the global box office is a musical with Lady Gaga playing the iconic Harley Quinn.

The sequel will be set in Arkham Asylum where the Joker will encounter psychiatrist Harley and through his influence slowly take over her mind; at least that is what happens in the comics.

Director Todd Phillps and writer Scott Silver may have something entirely different planned just like they did for the adaptation of Joker's origin story.

In the first look shared by director Todd Phillps via Instagram, we see Arthur Fleck aka Joker getting a shave by the guard at Arkham.

No doubt this is the first of many BTS pictures we will see from the sequel as production continues.

DC studios is going through a complete overhaul ever since James Gunn and Peter Safran took over the helm, with Todd Phillip's Joker: Folie à Deux along with Matt Reeves's The Batman sequel among the few projects that are safe from the chopping block.

DC fans are no doubt excited to see Joaquin Phoenix reprise his Oscar-winning role and his interaction with Harley Quinn.

And it will be interesting to see Lady Gaga's portrayal of Harley Quinn and how it differs from Margot Robbie's goofy and fun take on the character.

While it is safe to assume that the plot will serve as an origin story for Harley Quinn, the main plot still remains a mystery.

Zazie Beetz will be reprising her role as Sophie Dumond. The rest of the supporting cast includes Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, and Harry Lawtey.

Since the sequel will be set in Arkham Asylum, there is a possibility that we may even see a few of Gotham City's other famous villains.

Joker: Folie à Deux, will hit the big screen on October 4, 2024.
