Actress Kangana Ranaut ’s action avatar in Dhaakad may have failed to fill cinema halls this weekend, but the actress is not one to dwell on such matters for long. Soon after the release of her actioner, Kangana has now moved on and begun preparations for her second directorial project titled Emergency.

On Saturday, Kangana shared a picture from the office of her production house Manikarnika Films, where she can be seen helming a meeting announcing that that she has begun work on her next project.

“Marching on … Preproduction Day in the office #Emergency” wrote Kangana alongside the picture. Kangana will not only be helming the project but will also be seen playing former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in the movie which is touted to be her biopic.

The actress who has had this project waiting the wings for some time now, had announced in 2021 on the Koo app that she will be the one to direct the project since she didn’t find anyone more suitable to take charge of the project.

“Pleased to wear director’s hat again, after working on ‘Emergency’ for more than a year, I finally figured no one can direct it better than me, collaborating with fabulous writer Ritesh Shah, even if it means sacrificing on various acting assignments I am determined to do it,” she had written.

Kangana had donned the director’s hat for the mega budget period drama Manikarnika in which she played Rani of Jhansi. She shared the directorial credit with Krish Jagarlamudi who had stepped away from the project due to differences with the makers. Kanagna took charge and completed the project in Krish’s absence.

As for Dhaakad, the movie which released on Friday, had a dull opening day and failed to survive the clash with Kartik Aaryan Kiara Advani ’s Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 which received a bumper opening. Kangana had also congratulated the team of the horror comedy on social media for reviving the box office of Bollywood.
