Harrison Ford is reportelt taking over the role of Thunderbolt Ross from the late William Hurt, who first played the role in the 2008 movie The Incredable Hulk and was last scne in 2021 Black Widow.

Marvel was supposed to annouced the actor MCU debut as the villiand genreal at this years D23 event but was stopped by Lucasfilm who belived that the focus should be kept on the upomcing Indian Jones 5 in which Harrsion is playing the lead.

    Indiana Jones

According to Jeff Sneider who was speaking on The Hot Mic podcast Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy pushed for Marvel Studios to hold off on announcing anything at D23.

"So, what I initially heard is that this was a done deal for D23, that they actually wanted to announce him as a cast member in Thunderbolts at D23," he explains. "They didn't because Kathleen Kennedy put her foot down and said, 'No, we're going to keep the focus on Indiana Jones 5 content.'"

"'I don't want this to become Harrison Ford joining the MCU, we're going to keep the focus on Indy 5 right now.'"

    Thunderbolts

This does make sense as Harrison Ford joining the MCU would have taken the attention away from the next installment in the Indian Jones franchise, hopefully, this rumor does turn out to be true and Marvel make the official announcement in the near future.

So it seems Harrison Ford will be countune where the Late Willian Hurt left off and fans can hopefully expect to see the general transform into The Red Hulk in Thunderbolts.

In the comics, General Ross is turned into the red hulk a more intelligent and tactical version of the Hulk by The Leader and M.O.D.O.K.

Now do we know that The Leader played by Tim Blake Nelson will be returning to the MCU in Captain Amerca: New World Order and M.O.D.O.K will make his debut in Ant-Man the Wasp: Quantumania, it seems likely this will be the origin story in the MCU as well.

Thunderbolts is set to be released in theatres on July 26, 2024 and Indiana Jones 5 on June 30, 2023.
