When the teaser of Adipurush was launched in Ayodhya last week, the lead pair received a lot of love. Netizens couldn’t get over South superstar Prabhas and Bollywood star Kriti Sanon’s effortless off-screen chemistry at the grand event. However, makers were trolled for the VFX work because fans had higher expectations. What’s worse is that Saif Ali Khan ’s look as Lankesh aka Ravana was slammed by several people. While some compared it to a character from Game Of Thrones, many others felt it had a ‘Mughal’ feel to it.

In a recent interview with Aaj Tak, director Om Raut came out in support of Saif’s look as Lankesh. He explained, “Our Ravan in today's time is demonic, he is cruel. The one who has abducted our Goddess Sita is cruel. We have shown what Ravan looks like in today's time. This is not a film or a project for us. This is a mission for us. Our film is a symbol of our devotion and we need everyone's blessings for this. Whosoever is speaking about the film are our elders.”

Raut further added, “I am listening to all of them and taking note of everything. When you will watch the film in January 2023, I will not disappoint anyone.” While Saif’s first look failed to impress the audiences, fans did enjoy watching glimpses of Prabhas as Raghava and Kriti as Janaki. However, we wish we got to see more of Kriti, who had a blink and miss scene in the teaser. Well, nevertheless, we are eagerly waiting to watch Adipurush in theatres when it releases on 12th January next year.

As a member of the audience, what did you think of director Om’s explanation of Saif’s look as Lankesh in the teaser?
