Priyadarshan's thriller 'Corona Papers' may get an early OTT release due to its lukewarm reception at the box office

    Priyadarsh's thriller movie Corono Paers which hit theaters last week has had a lackluster run at the box office. The movie only managed to collect 65 lakhs at the end of its second day.

    The movie, however, has received mostly positive reviews from critics, and according to a new report, the movie might be heading for an OTT release in May.

    Corona Papers will mark the director's return to the action-thriller genre after 2016's Oppam and is considered by many as a comeback for the director after the disappointing critical and commercial reception of his last movie Marakkar: Lion of the Arabian Sea.

    The movie is based on the 2017 Tamil movie 8 Thottakal, The movie began production in October and is the first time the director has collaborated with Shane Nigan and Shine Tom Chacko.

    In the movie, Shane Nigan plays a young police officer who is searching for his missing service revolver after it was stolen from him and used as a murder weapon.

    Divakar S. Mani known for his work in movies like Thupakki and Keshava is in charge of the cinematography. Editing is being handled by Ayyappanum and Koshiyum fame Ayyappan Nair and the music is being helmed by National Award winner M.R. Rajakrishnan.

    The movie is produced under the banner of Four Frames production house, the script for the movie has been written by Priyadarshan and Sree Ganesh who is known for his work on projects like 8 Thottakkal and 8MM Bullet.

    The movie was a Pan-Indian release and will be dubbed in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi. The movie also boasts of an ensemble cast that includes Siddique, Sandhya Shetty, P.P. Kunhikrishnan, Maninanpillai Raju, Jean Paul Lal, Sree Dhanya, Vijileesh, Biju Pappan, Sreekanth Murali, and Menka Sureshkumar.

    As for Priyadarshan, he will also be directing Mohanlal in the upcoming Netflix anthology series, titled Olavum Theeravum.
