Rajinikanth and Sivakarthikeyan may clash at the box office this Vinayakar Chaturthi

    Jailer and Maaveeran could be battling for the top spot.

    Rajinikanth's Jailer may be clashing with Sivakarthikeyan Maaveeran after the recent announcement that Jailer may be releasing this August instead of September.

    Both movies are currently in post-production, Jailer will be a pan-Indian release whereas Maaveeran will have a more limited release.

    Currently, Sivakarthukeyan is gearing up for the release of his Science-fiction comedy Ayalaan. The movie has been in post-production for a while now and is eyeing a Diwali release, which means it will clash with Dhanush's period-action movie Captain Miller.

    The project is the actor's first collaboration with director R. Ravikumar and is a science fiction movie with music composed by the legendary A.R. Rahman.

    In the movie, Sivakarthikeyan plays the role of Raghu who has a chance encounter with an alien. Sivakarthikeyan fans have a lot to be happy about in 2023, the rising star of Tamil cinema has three other projects lined up for the new year.

    As for Jailer, The movie will be the first time Rajinikanth will be working with director Nelson, The director's last movie was Beast which starred Vijay in the lead role.

    Jailer will be the first time Rajinikanth will be working with Kannada superstar Shivarajkumar, the movie also marks the actor's Tamil debut.

    Director Nelson roped in Malayalam superstar Mohanlal for a cameo in the movie. The project was announced by Sun Pictures in February and production officially started in July with shooting taking place in Chennai, Hyderabad, and Coimbatore.

    Recently Bollywood actor Jackie Shroff has also joined the cast of the movie. This will be the second time Rajinikanth and Jackie Shroff will be working together after the 1987 Bollywood movie 'Uttar Dakshin'.

    The movie has an ensemble cast that includes Shiva Rajkumar, Ramya Krishnan, Vasanth Ravi, Yogi Babu, and Vinayakan.

    Jailer will be dubbed in all major Indian languages and is expected to hit theaters worldwide in August.
