RRR star Jr NTR was reluctant about performing at the Oscars due to comparisons, not Ram Charan? Here’s what we know

It was a huge honour for not just the makers of RRR , but also for the entire country when the beloved track Naatu Naatu became the first Indian film song to be nominated for an Oscar. SS Rajamouli along with his lead stars Ram Charan and Jr NTR graced the prestigious 95th Academy Awards for the same and many hoped that the two actors would set the stage on fire with their unmatchable steps on the energetic dance number. But that didn’t happen and instead Billy Mustapha and Jason Glover took over, giving the audiences a memorable performance on Naatu Naatu.

The hit track went on to become the first song from an Indian film to win at the Oscars. It was a proud moment for Indian movie lovers, but many were disheartened that Ram and Jr NTR didn’t perform. Well, according to a report shared by ETimes, it was Jr NTR who was reluctant as he was worried about comparisons. A source revealed that Charan was quite excited about the opportunity, but his co-star was apparently not convinced and claimed that they didn’t have enough time for rehearsals.

The source was quoted saying, “It was an important event and stars of the stature of Jr NTR and Ram Charan had already received lots of coverage and prominence for the film in USA. NTR Jr didn’t want any more comparisons to be made. So he stayed away from the opportunity to dance for the Oscars.” Well, Ram and Jr NTR didn’t set the stage on fire with their moves, but they sure did make heads turn when they walked the prestigious red carpet looking dapper as ever. While Charan opted for a black bandhgala as a tribute to freedom fighters, Jr NTR looked handsome in a velvet bandhgala with a golden tiger embroidered on it.
