While there was no official announcement on the sequel to Shang- Chi at this year's SDCC Marvel panel, the studio did announce six yet-to-be-revealed projects.

Since the fact that Marvel had already green the sequel to the movie with both Simu Liu and director Destin Daniel Cretton returning, it is obvious that one of the three will be the sequel.

Shang-Chi was a surprise critical and commercial hit for the studio and earned 432 million worldwide despite being released in the middle of the pandemic.

The movie received numerous awards and nominations, including a nomination for Best Visual Effects at the 94th Academy Awards.

While we learned nothing about the sequel at this year's SDCC, the star of the movie Simu Liu took to Twitter to address what the future holds for Shang-Chi.

“I don’t want to jump the gun or anything, but I feel like there might be room for me in a couple of those, wouldn’t you say? I was watching the presentation basically from Twitter and being like, ‘Oh, I’m gonna be busy. I’m gonna be busy the next few years.’”

It is clear that Shang-Chi will play a major role in both Phase 5 and Phase 6 as well as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars which will feature a new team of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

But his larger role in the MCU 's future still remains a mystery, it will be interesting to see how future projects handle Shang-Chi and further explore the world-building showcased in the first movie.

There is no doubt that the sequel is in good hands with Destin Daniel Cretton.
