Thalapathy Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna starrer Varisu gets an official Pongal release date

One of the most anticipated movies of 2023 is the action movie Varisu starring Vijay and Rashmika Mandanna in the lead and directed by Vamshi Paidipally.

The distributors of the movie confirmed that the film would be hitting theaters worldwide on January 12th in time for a Pongal release, this means that the movie will be clashing at the box office with Ajith starrer Thunivu.

The announcement came via Twitter along with a brand new poster of the movie featuring Vijay. The film will be the first time the actor will star alongside Rashmika Mandanna, who will play the actor's love interest.

This will be the actress's second Tamil film after Sultan in 2021. Director Vamshi Paidipally described the movie as "Family-oriented" and will be similar to Vijay's movies from the 90s.

The movie wrapped production in September and boasts of an ensemble cast that includes Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Sangeetha, Khushbu, Ganesh Venkatraman, and Yogi Babu.

The movie will be released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi with T-Series handling the Hind dub marking the first collaboration between Sri Venkateswara Creations and T-Series.

Awarding composer Thaman S is in charge of the music, the first track from the movie titled "Ranjithame" sung by Thalapathy Vijay, M M Manasi was well revied by fans and had crossed 75 million views on Youtube.

Karthik Palani is the cinematographer with National Award winner Praveen K. L. in charge of editing. 

The fact that the movie will be hitting theaters in January means that we will be getting the first trailer for the movie this month, Vijay's last venture Beast despite mixed reviews went on to gross 250 crores at the box office.

Varisu is produced by Sri Venkateswara Creations in association with PVP Cinema and is estimated to have a budget of 200 crores.
