During the recent audio launch for his upcoming action-drama movie Varisu , Thalapathy Vijay revealed that actor Silambarasan(STR) who sang the second single 'Thee Thalapathy' did so for free.

Silambarasan who sang and appeared in the music video is also said to have a small voice cameo in 'Varisu'. During the event, Vijay thanked Silambarsan for his kind gesture.

The music for the movie is composed by Thaman S and is a tribute to superstar Vijay's three-decade-long career. The music video has had around 30 million views since its launch.

The lyrics for the song were written by Vivek, with the choreography performed by Sandy, who appears in the video alongside STR and recreates a few of Vijay's famous dance moves.

Varisu is a family entertainer similar to the actor's movies from the 90s. It is directed by Vamshi Paidipally, who will be collaborating with Vijay and the film also marks his Tamil debut.

Vamshi is known for directing many hits in the Telugu industry such as Munna, Oopiri, and the recent Mahesh Babu starrer Maharshi. No doubt the director can recreate his success in the Telugu industry.

Varisu will also mark the first time the actor will be paired with Rashmika Mandanna . The movie wrapped production in September and boasts an ensemble cast that includes Prabhu, R. Sarathkumar, Prakash Raj, Sangeetha, Khushbu, Ganesh Venkatraman, and Yogi Babu.

In the movie, Vijay plays the son of a business tycoon who has to take over the company after a series of unfortunate events.

The movie will hit theaters in January during Pongal, which means the movie will have stiff competition at the Tamil and Telugu box office.

The movie will be clashing with Ajith starrer Thuniva at the Tamil box office and Chiranjeevi's Waltair Veerayya at the Telugu box office this Pongal.

Varisu will hit theaters worldwide on January 12th, 2023.
