    John Abraham’s debut in Bollywood with Jism turned a lot of heads as did his bad side as the super cool villain in Doom, from then on we have come to expect the model turned actor to surprise us at every step, and he did. Be it starring in a crazy comedy like Garam Masala or a patriotic drama like Satyamev Jayate, or simply producing a film about a sperm donation, Vicky Donor, at a time when people least expected it. John has been versatile and far from being just the good looking guy women drool over.

    Despite his success in Bollywood though there have been several films that John signed and never really materialized. While fans might be dying to see more of the actor on the big screen here are some of the opportunities we missed to see him charm us with his movies, as they got shelved.

    Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon – The film was to mark John’s debut in Bollywood and Garv: Pride and Honour fame actress Akanksha Malhotra was cast to be his leading lady. The film was being helmed by Arjun Pandit director Rahul Rawail in 2001. After 75% of the project was complete the movie was shelved.

    Puneet Issar film in 2002 – His second attempt at making a debut also starred Akanksha Malhotra along with Raveena Tandoon. The film again failed to materialize.

    Mera Bharat Mahan – Long before John’s patriotic stint finally happened, in 2003 the actor was to be a part of film called Mera Bharat Mahan which was to be directed by Puneet Sihra and co-starring Suneil Shetty and Sohail Khan.

    Aatma: Being directed by J.D.Chakravarthy the 2003 film was to star Priyanka Chopra and Shamita Shetty. John backed out of the film and was replaced by Aryan Vaid before the film was shelved.

    A second film with Bipasha Basu: After Jism John and Bipasha which marked both their Bollywood debuts, John was to star once more in a film in 2004 with the actress and former girlfriend. The film also starred Dino Morea who Bipsha has formerly dated.

    The Legacy of Luna: Based on a true story chronicled by Julia Butterfly Hill the film was the story of the author and her efforts at saving a tree called Luna in a redwood forest for two years. Directed by Deepa Mehta the film was to also star Rachel Weisz back in 2004.

    Happy Birthday: John Abraham and Aishwarya Rai were paired opposite each other in a love story being helmed by Sriram Raghavan and was being produced by Ramesh Sippy. The film was being made back in 2007 but eventually failed to take off.
