Deepika Padukone Rejected Salman Khan's Offer For A Debut Way Before Om Shanti Om, Said ‘Glad That I Didn’t Do The Film’

It is impossible to steal the limelight from a Bollywood Khan when starring in a film opposite one. Deepika Padukone, however, managed this impossible feat in her very first film Om Shanti Om where she debuted opposite Shah Rukh Khan. The actress was widely talked about and appreciated for her performance as Shanti in the film but did you know it was another Khan that approached her first for her debut?

Deepika Padukone had once in an interview with Hindustan Times confirmed that she might have opted for Om Shanti Om but Salman Khan was the first person to approach her for a film. The actress has completed over a decade in the industry but still hasn’t been seen sharing screen space with Salman.

Talking about the actor’s offer and expressing her desire to share screen with the actor someday Deepika had said, “Show me one person who doesn’t want to work with Salman Khan! And now, let me tell you, I may have debuted with Shah Rukh Khan, but Salman was the first person to offer me a film. He spotted me way before Om Shanti Om, when I did my first Liril and Close Up ads. I had just hit the modelling circuit then. So the proposal is pending.”

The actress even confessed that she wanted to work with Salman in a nice romantic film. Talking about being a newcomer who rejected Salman she said, “I wasn’t ready. I was too young and unclear about which profession to choose at that time. A lot of people thought I was foolish to let it go, but I guess it was destined. But I am glad that I didn’t do the film, because I know I wouldn’t have done justice to it and our pairing then.”

Well, fans still await the day when Deepika and Salman will come together for a film. So far, Salman has only been rejected by the actress for films like Sultan, Prem Ratan Dhan Paayo, Bajrangi Bhaijaan, Kick and Jai Ho.
