    Rashami Desai and Tina Dutta starrer show Uttaran was a big success on TV and gave viewers characters they still remember and recall to date. Actor Ayub Khan who famously played Rashami Desai’s father on the show recently during an interview looked back at the days of working on the popular daily soap and called it a ‘surreal period’.

    The actor also made some surprising revelations about his part on the show. He played Jogi Thakur and wealthy landlord and a father figure to the two protagonists. Talking to Times Now Digital, Ayub Khan revealed that his character was originally supposed to have a very short storyline. “When I look back at the episodes, it was a surreal period. I remember was doing a show for the same producer. Uttaran was a new show for Colors. It was like a 15-20 episode character. I said sure. There was no looking back. I was to die in the 20th episode. I thought of sticking on to the role,” he told the news portal.


    Ayub Khan went on to play Jogi Thakur for nearly six years after he made up his mind to stay on. The Colors show which kicked off in 2008 went on gain prominence during its run of several years with Rashami playing Tapasya, the daughter of a wealthy landlord and Tina playing Iccha a maid servant’s daughter. The fate of the two girls intertwines as they grow up in the same house.
