Following in Sushmita Sen's footsteps Kajol signs a multi-season web series with Disney+ Hotstar; Family Man 2 director to helm project
Kajol ready to make her web series debut in 2023 on Disney+ Hotsar, Family Man 2 director Supran Varma will helm the project according to reports.
Kajol will soon be following in the footsteps of her colleagues like Maduri Dixit and Sushmita Sen and be making her web series debut soon on Disney + Hotstar . According to reports the actress will be leading a web series where she plays a new age mom who after a strained relationship with her husband assumes the responsibility of her family.
The actress who made her debut on OTT during the lockdown with the Netflix film Tribhanga which was directed by Renuka Shahne will be leading the web series while details about the remainder of the cast are still unknown. According to Peeping Moon, the web series is currently in pre-production and will be a part of Disney+ Hotstar’s 2023 slate.
The project is being helmed by Suparn Varma who previously has delivered the blockbuster season of Manoj Bajpayee led Family Man 2 which also marked the debut of actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the OTT space.
According to a source of the portal, the actress will be playing a woman in her 40’s who struggles to revive her career after years of being a housewife. Intense drama, politics, crime and family are the themes the web series will apparently tackle, setting aside the project from other films where we have seen Kajol playing a mother in recent year.
Web series have served a lucrative medium for actresses to do more with their career and Sushamita Sen’s Arya, which also features on the same platform, is the biggest success story in this regard. Interestingly, Kajol’s husband and actor Ajay Devgn also made his web series debut with the show Rudra earlier this year on Disney+ Hotstar.
The web series will apparently be a multi season feature so Kajol fans can certainly celebrate this turning point of her career after at least three decades of her movie journey.
