Does Kajol think OTT has an upper hand over Bollywood films today? Here's what she said

Kajol is one of the few actresses in the Hindi film industry who has delivered myriad roles in the past three decades of her career. From portraying the girl-next-door in Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge to the obsessive killer in Gupt. She was among the best actresses we had in the 90s. She continues to blow away her fans with her extraordinary acting prowess in films and OTT space. However, she feels it was way easier for movies to be successful back then.

In a recent media interaction, Kajol explained that back in the day cinema halls were the only medium of entertainment. “There was no YouTube, there was no OTT and there was no TV. So that was the only thing people had. So, yes, the film did do 25 weeks, very easily used to attain silver jubilees. People had a lot less to remember, so they remembered it much better,” she told Pinkvilla.

Further, the Kuch Kuch Hota Hai actress also credited OTT for bringing out some of the fabulous actors. She is happy that actors are getting a stage and being able to show exactly what they are capable of turning stars in their own right. She also took a sly dig at Bollywood’s obsession with physical appearances while saying that actors are becoming stars despite not having 24 inches waistline and 36 inches chest or a 46 inches chest.

Kajol also spoke about the social media impact on stardom and how the influx of people on social media has diluted it. Earlier, people on the big screen used to be famous but now one can get fame for n number of things, said the actress adding that most actors have devoted their time equally to social media and to films.

Meanwhile, Kajol was last seen in Tribhanga alongside Mithila Palkar and Tanvi Azmi. She will next be seen in Revathi ’s upcoming film, Salaam Venky which also stars Aahana Kumra and Vishal Jethwa in prominent roles.
